The Creative Mind Behind MyPicko

For as long as I can remember, art has been a part of my life. I grew up surrounded by sculptures, paintings, and handcrafted objects from Oaxaca, my mother's homeland. I loved looking at those vibrant, detailed figures, and without realizing it, they sparked a passion for drawing in me. It became my way of exploring the world, of capturing what I felt and saw around me.When I had the opportunity to pursue my master's degree in Paris, my love for art grew even stronger. I found myself in a place where creativity was everywhere—in museums, in music, in murals on the streets.

People expressed themselves fearlessly, and that deeply inspired me. I absorbed all that energy, the cultural diversity, and the way art was woven into everyday life, and I knew I wanted to keep exploring my own artistic voice. After finishing my studies, I met my husband, and we moved to Washington. It was a big change, but here I found another source of inspiration: nature. The landscapes, the endless trails, the majestic forests…
all of it began to blend with my Oaxacan roots in the way I created. But it wasn’t just the lush greenery that shaped my vision—growing up, I also spent time in the vast deserts of Chihuahua. The contrast between the arid, golden landscapes and the deep, earthy tones of the region left a lasting impression on me. The way the light plays on the sand, the endless horizons, and the silence of the desert became another element influencing my work. But the moment that truly transformed my art was the birth of my daughter. It was as if all my experiences, memories, and emotions found a new purpose. I realized I wanted to share everything I carried within me—this mix of cultures, stories, and landscapes that have shaped me.Through my illustrations, I want to invite people to connect with the beauty around us, to see the world through a different lens, to feel the emotion and nostalgia I pour into every stroke. My art is a bridge between my roots and my present, between tradition and nature, between memories and the dreams still to come.
